Violin Varnish Box 2

Well, well, well!!!

Today I got the plastic board, which means that it's done!

Since the box is quite sturdy, I think the violin might survive armageddon!

This weekend I'm going to start the varnish process! Speaking about process, as you know by now it's a lot about the process here, and I might just tell you that although I'm done with my box, the process continues...!

Take care!

Violin Varnish Box

Hi!

This update makes me so proud I might burst any second now...! The regular visitors to this blog knows that I dabble in the making of violins. The next phase in my violin making is the varnish phase! After having it hanging in my kitchen window and letting it get a nice yellowish color it's finally time for the varnish. But before I can start varnish it, I needed to build a box where I can put it, because one needs to put it in as a dust free environment as possible when it dries, hence the violin varnish box!
At first I planned to make it totally in plastic, but due to economic reasons I chose to use wood. When I had made that decision I just wanted to dash it all together very quickly, but along the way I kind of went all in! My landlord sponsored me with wood, and the use of power tools, I'm very thankful for that! My father also chipped in with advise of all sorts! Due to the fact that I used different kinds of wood, I had to paint it to make it easy on the eyes...! And then I decided to put varnish on the inside to make it easy to keep clean, and it also got a coat of varnish on the outside, I hadn't planned that, it just happened! The only thing I'm going to add to it is the top which is going to be a board of plastic. On the following pictures you will see how it looks in all it's glory!

And why I'm so proud, you ask? Well, when I grew up, it kind of dawned on me that I'm all thumbs, my father and my big brother are the practical ones, and I'm not! But these last days another thing dawned on me, and that is that you can change, the truths of yesteryear might not be truths today, so, with that lesson in mind I leave you for this week.

Take care!

It's all about the process!

Hi!

Last week I posted about my test drive with my character Héloise. After looking at the sequence more closely I realized that I wasn't quite finished with it so here it is again:

Another test drive!

Hi!

Here comes the earlier announced test drive with the second lead character in my upcoming comic "Pilgrim". Again I've tried the character out, I wanted to see what happens when the character is surprised.
Enjoy!
